Recently, my life has undergone a significant transformation, allowing me to allocate more time to being at home. Consequently, I've had the opportunity to delve deeper into my passion for pottery, sculpture, and painting. With that being said, I've also found moments to indulge in watercoloring crabs, one of my favorite subjects.

The catalyst for this change in my life has been my commitment to caring for my wonderful 97-year-old mother-in-law, who requires assistance virtually round the clock. Her remarkable journey through life and her unwavering resilience are truly inspiring. Consequently, I've chosen to make her my top priority, providing her with the patience, respect, and a comforting presence she deserves during her later years.

Watercolor Crab III

Watercolor Crab III
16 x 12"
watercolor on canvas

Been doing a little experimenting with watercolors. I use these watercolor canvases to paint oils because they are so smooth, so I thought I would try doing a watercolor on one. I like the effect - a little harder to control, but it is a nice surface to work with.

I've been really enjoying the challenge of watercolors and (obviously) painting crabs. I tried a shrimp and found out (1) you CAN overwork watercolors and the result is muddy and gross and (2) if you mess up a watercolor, you can use the other side :)
