Dog Dreaming

Dog Dreaming

I have a friend and a collector on Facebook that has been posting great photos of her grandkids napping with her rescues. I'm a such a sucker for sleeping dogs, and with babies? Well, that's just too good! So, I have been secretly hoarding these gems for a while hoping to one day paint them. Turns out today's the day.

In Remembrance...

A few days ago Guy's children lost their grandfather.
They called him Pawpaw.
I never met him, but I heard wonderful stories of him and how he appreciated creativity. He sounded like a very interesting man. Sara told me one time that he liked to make pickled bamboo. I had never hear of such a thing and then she brought some home... it's absolutely delicious!

My thoughts are with Sara and Jesse during this sad time
- I'm sure their Pawpaw will be greatly missed.

New Friend

For my birthday Guy gave me a new easel. It is a great easel, sturdy and solid for larger paintings, it even tilts horizontally! For this wonderful gift I promised him I would paint this first on the new easel.

I did a video of it and you can see it here.

Morning at the Lake

12" x 12"
oil on canvas

Well, we just spent a much needed week relaxing at the lake and now it's over... time to go home to snow and cold.

I did this painting from a photo from a few months ago. It's a paint study for a larger piece that I want to work on.  Because I didn't think this through and just started putting paint down, all of Chumley's head didn't quite make it in the scene, but that's ok because I can paint Chumley with my eyes shut... it's Guy that I thought I might have problems with and fortunately this came together quite easily.

I love the peacefulness of this scene... a Guy with his dog... enjoying his morning coffee.
