TP or not TP II

TP or not TP II
20" x 20"
Auction

After the first "TP or Not TP" sold on dailypaintworks.com, one of the bidders asked me to do a commission. The first try (this one) she felt wasn't loose enough. I really like the way this turned out and didn't want to paint over it, so I painted another. All in all, I've painted 3 of these in the past two weeks! This painting is now on auction and ends today. I probably won't be painting another like this so now is the time to get a great painting for the bathroom (where I would hang it).

"Let em' roll"

"Let em' roll"
24" x 12"
oil on canvas

This painting is currently on auction here:

I know it seems odd that I paint toilet paper rolls, but I really enjoy painting them. They are a great value study and good practice for understanding subtly in colors changes.
I also I think it's fun to take something so ordinary unnoticed/uninteresting and make it interesting and beautiful.

TP or not TP II

11" x 14"
oil on canvas

TP or not TP
11" x 14"
oil on canvas
Sold to a collector in Florida

I know a painting of a toilet paper roll is odd, but they sell surprisingly well.... go figure. I like painting them because they are an excellent exercise in subtle differences in whites, which is really difficult to see and translate to a painting. You can get lost in one of these.

I also love the idea of taking something so mundane and making it interesting and beautiful. It makes me think about how important TP is in our lives... you may say "gross", but try living without it... now, that's gross.

Happy New Year!

"2011"
12" x 7"
oil on panel

They say "Out with the old, in with the new" and this is my take on 2011. It was a tough year and I'm more than happy to start anew.

Right before Christmas I started getting a cold. At times, I felt I was getting better -then it came on "full tilt". When it was done, it socked me with a good old fashion 2-day migraine.

I'm happy (and relieved) to say on this beautiful New Year's Day, I feel renewed and fresh, being over this nastiness. It was such an appropriate way to end and begin this journey of a year.

Happy New Year Everybody!!
